5 Draws in Round 5

2017-07-18

Half of the Lake Sevan 2017 international chess tournament is left behind:  games of the 5th round were played today. The round was peaceful: all 5 games ended in a draw. Unlike other rounds, where games were lasting more than 5 hours and 100 and more moves were being registered, the longest game of this round – Samvel Ter-Sahakyan – Hovhannes Gabuzyan, lasted just 44 moves. One of the two leaders of the tournament Martyn Kravtsiv made a draw against Tamir Nabaty and the other leader – Amin Bassem drew his game against Tigran Harutyunyan. Manuel Petrosyan, who has best performance among Armenian players, shared a point with Dariusz Swiercz. The youngest participant of the tournament – Haik Martirosyan – held a draw against Igor Kovalenko.
