Opening Ceremony

The solemn opening ceremony of the “Lake Sevan 2017” International Chess Tournament took place today on July 13 at Best Western Bohemian Resort Hotel. The first vice-president of the Armenian Chess Federation, the Founder and President of the Chess Academy of Armenia Smbat Lputian, the Governor of Gegharqunik region, the President of Gegharqunik Region Chess Federation Karen Botoyan, RA NA Deputy Speaker  Eduard Sharmazanov, ANOC vice-president Derenik Gabrielyan, RA NA deputy Rafik Grigoryan and a great number of chess lovers were present at the ceremony.

Video telling about the 11-year history of the tournament was presented to the audience. The most fascinating part of the ceremony was the drawing, which was conducted with the help of a young and talented magician Nahapet Arshakyan. The pairs that are going to compete during the coming nine days became clear through his spectacular tricks.  Thus, we can announce the start of the “Lake Sevan-2017”, live games and live streaming of which will be available at 3pm /local time/ from July 14 to 21 and at 10am on July 22.
