On the occasion of this solemn ceremony the governor of Gegharqunik region Rafik Grigoryan congratulated all ten participants and all the guests. "Another tournament came to its end. It passed in the atmosphere of fair competition, we all witnessed tensed, interesting and rare games with productive outcomes as it was predicted. The 9-day games were very popular not only among the chess lovers of the region but also throughout the whole republic. I value the fact that during the tournament young chess players of the region had chance to get to know the international grandmasters. It had its important educational role for them and was also memorable. In the near future we will start preparations for "Lake Sevan - 2017" and I hope next year the participants will also have chance to visit the sights of the region. I want to congratulate the winners of "Lake Sevan - 2016", and emphasis once again that the only winner of this tournament is friendship which I think is the best accomplishment" - noted the head of Gegharqunik region.
